Predicted to win the Pac-10 this season, the Cal men's basketball team has not exactly played like a conference champion so far.
Since completing a preseason slate where they succumbed to all four of their ranked opponents, the Bears (11-6, 3-2) have sputtered in a league that has dealt each team at least two losses.
Now, with the Pac-10 Tournament less than two months away, Cal is slowly running out of chances to impress the NCAA selection committee.

Lou Piniella made sure he got away from baseball once the disappointing 2009 season ended for the Chicago Cubs.
Piniella traveled to Europe to be a tourist and hit the Florida Keys for some fishing.

And he's optimistic that a National League Central title is within reach.
If we can win 83 games with all those problems and all those injuries and stay relatively healthy, I’m sure we can add another eight or 10 wins to this thing and give ourselves a chance to get to the postseason and win in the postseason -Lou Piniella
